WOMEN IN DISASTER

To better understand the issues facing women in disasters, ESS Directors and their teams are encouraged to read the workbook "It Can Happen to your Agency! Tools for Change: Emergency Management for Women's Services."

The purpose of this publication is to assist women's organizations in the development of emergency plans designed to meet the special needs of women during and after a disaster. By becoming familiar with the workbook content and issues, ESS directors and their teams will be able to discuss and support the needs of women should they be contacted by local agencies.

"It Can Happen to your Agency" was developed by the BC Association of Specialized Assistance and Counselling Program, with funding and support from several government and non-government organizations, including the ESS Program Office.
